A week to reconnect with your creative self.

This June, join Gabriel in beautiful Ashland, Oregon, for a week-long in-person workshop. We’ll begin each day in his studio, surrounded by the smells of paint and coffee, buzzing with the kind of creative synergy that's only available to artists who share the same inspired space.

Your experience is curated to be fully immersive and personal. With a small group of 10 to12 students, you’ll receive one-on-one guidance and feedback directly from Gabriel. We’ll explore the figure through the lens of color, composition, and form in new ways, building confidence and curiosity as we go.

Between studio sessions, you’ll have space to breathe. To wander through Ashland’s charming shops, visit a winery, attend a play, or simply enjoy some good food and great company. Part painting retreat, part creative reset, this is an invitation to fall back in love with the creative act.

🎨 Paint

5 days at Enclave Studios, with one-on-one feedback from Gabriel. Work with live models, new tools, and incredible people.

☁️ Relax & Explore

Ashland is home to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, beautiful walking trails in Lithia Park, renowned wineries, restaurants, boutiques, and more!

🥂 Connect

We begin with a meet & greet and end with a celebratory farewell dinner, with daily studio lunches in between. Optional outings include a winery visit and a Shakespeare play.

What You'll Learn

I’ll teach you the figure-painting method I’ve developed over years of studio practice and teaching, bridging realism and abstraction with confidence.

You’ll see my process in action, but more importantly, you’ll gain the tools to build your own visual language, loosen your hand, and translate the human form into paint with clarity and presence.

Over the course of 5 days in the studio, we’ll cover:

Figure fundamentals — proportion, movement, structure, and the subtle shifts that make the figure feel alive.

Design & composition — how to shape your reference into a compelling, intentional painting or sketch.

Abstract grounds & mark-making — building depth with mixed media, intuitive textures, and expressive underlayers.

Color, value & light — creating harmony, sculpting form, and balancing warm–cool relationships with contrast and composition.

Gesture & atmosphere — loosening your hand, amplifying presence, and painting the feeling rather than the photograph.

We’ll work from photographic references and live models, creating space to personalize your approach.

Prepare with ease! Before the course, you'll receive:

A detailed workshop schedule.

A full materials list.

A list of recommended accommodations/hotels.

The opportunity to discuss your goals with me personally, via email or a 15 minute call, so I can tailor guidance to your individual needs.
