THE PORTRAIT
WORKSHOP WITH
GABRIEL LIPPER
AUGUST 19 - AUGUST 30, 2024
Capture your muse's likeness in an exciting, new way!
This process speaks to me; it allows for such freedom of expression. And I am now understanding the importance of seeing shapes.
-Cathryn Collopy O'Donnell
ACHIEVE PORTRAIT PERFECTION!
Learn to convey personality and mood, balance light and shadow of your subject.
This workshop offers an intimate look into portrait painting, from understanding basic head proportions to refining the subject's unique features.
Gabriel will begin by exploring the structure of the face using volume and form. You will learn to depict the head accurately from various angles. He'll delve into the use of lighting and color for mood and address composition challenges like color harmony and background design.
The handling of facial features can either enhance or diminish a painting, as viewers naturally focus on faces. Gabriel will show you how to conquer this art world challenge and master portrait painting!
I'M READY TO MASTER THE PORTRAIT!It was nice to see how you mixed your colors and how you laid the paint down. Each color laid next to the other, no blending. And each one was like a facet.

Meet Your Instructor:
Gabriel Mark Lipper, professional painter, exceptional instructor and founder of 8Paint Infinite Arts.
After years of suffering through the rigors of classical training, I came to develop my own way of seeing. One that felt authentic to me and lit me up, from the inside out. It combined the traditional academic approach with my own contemporary style and love of painting. It was a long road to get here and, let's be honest, the creative path is one of realization and self-discovery that never really ends.
Over the last 25 years working as a professional painter, and through much trial and error, I came to develop the specific tools and techniques necessary to build a strong foundation and inner confidence. It's from this place, that creative freedom, flow and transformation is achieved.
And this is why I created the Summer Workshop Series! I want to give you the lessons that took me years to learn and help catapult you to new heights.

I am learning so much watching you meticulously observe in such detail. It really helps that you identify the cool and warm light sources....and the colors you are mixing in your pallet.
-Kathryn Casternovia
This is so fun and I’m so glad you’ve included your palette. I learn a lot just watching the colors and values you use.
